What is symbol timing recovery?
The purpose of timing recovery is to recover a clock at the symbol rate or a multiple of the symbol rate from the modulated waveform. This clock is required to convert the continuous- time received signal into a discrete-time sequence of data symbols.
How do I restore my clock?
The receiver generates a clock from an approximate frequency reference, and then phase-aligns the clock to the transitions in the data stream with a phase-locked loop (PLL). This is one method of performing a process commonly known as clock and data recovery (CDR).
What is a clock recovery circuit?
A clock recovery circuit supplies timing to a phase locked loop (PLL), which in turn controls a clock for the recovered upstream information, as we describe shortly. From: Modern Cable Television Technology (Second Edition), 2004.
Which type of models contains clock recovery circuits?
the phase locked loop architecture (PLL) -- the most common method of clock recovery.
